A video converter that works in your browser
Drop in almost any video and get an MP4 back. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound is the format that plays on iPhones, Android phones, Windows, Macs, TVs and every major app and website, so it’s the safest format to send or upload.
Pick your format
Fast when it can be, thorough when it must be
Many videos already contain video that MP4 can hold, just in a different container. In that case we move it into an MP4 without re-encoding, which takes seconds and keeps the original quality exactly. When the video uses a codec MP4 players don’t expect, such as VP9 from a WebM recording, every frame is re-encoded to H.264 at high quality.
Maximum compatibility
Newer phones record in HEVC (H.265), which some Windows PCs, TVs and editing apps can’t play. Tick “Maximum compatibility” to force H.264, the universal option. It takes longer, but the result plays everywhere.
Need it smaller too?
Converting keeps the quality high, so the file can stay large. If you need it under a size limit for Discord, WhatsApp or email, use the video compressor, which also outputs MP4.
Questions
Which formats can I convert?
MOV, MP4, WebM, MKV and M4V files, including HEVC (H.265) videos from iPhones and Android phones. The output is always MP4.
Will converting reduce the quality?
Not when the video is repackaged: the picture is copied as is. A re-encode is done at high quality and is very hard to tell apart from the original.
Can I convert video to MP3?
Not yet. Extracting the sound as MP3 is planned for a future update.
Is there a watermark?
No. The video you save is exactly what the encoder produced: no watermark, no logo, no sign-up.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs inside your browser and uses your device’s own video encoder. Your file is read from your device, processed there and saved back. You can confirm this in your browser’s network panel: nothing is sent while a video is processed.
Which browsers does it work in?
It works best in Chrome and Edge on a computer. It needs a browser feature called WebCodecs. If your browser doesn’t have it, the page tells you before you start.
