How to compress a video to 10 MB

  1. The size is already set to 10 MB. You can change it under “Custom size”.
  2. Drop your video in and check the expected resolution and quality.
  3. Press Compress, then save the MP4. It’s guaranteed to be under 10 MB.

Where a 10 MB limit comes up

Ten megabytes is a very common upload cap on web forms, job and insurance portals, community forums and chat apps. Discord also used it for free accounts from late 2024 until 2026, so many people still look for it.

Common uses: Web forms and portals, forums, chat apps, older Discord limit.

What quality fits in 10 MB?

The size limit is shared across the whole video, so the longer it is, the less data each second gets. This is what to expect:

Video lengthOutputVideo bitrateQuality
15 seconds1080p4.9 MbpsGood
30 seconds1080p2.4 MbpsOK
1 minute720p1.1 MbpsOK
2 minutes480p0.5 MbpsLow
5 minutes360p0.2 MbpsLow
10 minutesToo long for 10 MB: trim it or pick a bigger size

For a 1080p source with sound at 10 MB. Removing the sound gives the picture about 128 kbps more.

At 10 MB a 30-second clip stays at full 1080p, and a two-minute video still fits at 480p.

How we hit the size exactly

We work out the bitrate from your video’s length so the file lands just under 10 MB, with a little room for the MP4 container. If the encoder overshoots, it automatically tries again slightly smaller, so you never get a file that’s too big.

Questions

Will my video definitely be under 10 MB?

Yes. The size is checked after encoding, and if it’s over, the video is re-encoded slightly smaller automatically.

Why is my video “too long for this size”?

Below a certain bitrate the picture becomes unwatchable. Long videos can’t fit 10 MB at a usable quality, so trim the video or choose a bigger size.

Can I compress a video without losing quality?

Any compression removes some detail; that’s how files get smaller. What matters is whether you can see it. We use the full size you allow, keep the frame rate, and step down resolution only when it will look sharper than a blocky full-size picture. For short clips the difference is usually invisible on a phone.

Is there a watermark?

No. The video you save is exactly what the encoder produced: no watermark, no logo, no sign-up.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs inside your browser and uses your device’s own video encoder. Your file is read from your device, processed there and saved back. You can confirm this in your browser’s network panel: nothing is sent while a video is processed.
