  1. An example is already playing above. Keep the drawn background, or press “Use my photo or video”.
  2. Fireworks and “Happy New Year!” with the coming year are already set. Change the greeting, for example to add your names, and choose how many fireworks.
  3. Choose MP4 or GIF and press Download. Save the file, or share it from your phone.

Fireworks over your own picture

Each firework bursts at a different place and colour, with sparks that slow down, fall and fade, and a brief flash where it explodes. Choose light for an occasional burst or lots for a full midnight show. They play over your video from the first second, or over a photo turned into a short clip.

Ideas for New Year videos

  • A group photo from the party with fireworks and “Happy New Year from all of us”.
  • A countdown clip from your phone, with fireworks added over it.
  • A year-in-review post: make the video with the photos to video tool first, then add fireworks here.
  • Business greetings to customers and followers.

Sending it at midnight

Networks are busy at midnight, so smaller files send faster. A 5-second GIF at 480 px is usually 2–5 MB; an MP4 is often smaller and sharper. For WhatsApp, MP4 is best. Make it before the countdown, and it’s ready to send.

MP4 or GIF?

MP4 keeps the full picture and the original sound, and is the best choice for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. GIF loops silently in any chat or email, even where videos don’t autoplay; keep GIFs short (up to 10 seconds) and small, because they’re much bigger than MP4s.

Private: your photos and videos stay on your device

Family videos and photos of children don’t belong on someone else’s server. FitVideo makes the New Year video inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded, and there’s no account, no watermark and no limit on how many you make.

Questions

How do I make a Happy New Year video?

Drop in a photo or video, keep Fireworks and the greeting, and press Make video.

Which year does the greeting show?

From October onwards it shows the coming year. You can type any greeting you like.

Can I make a New Year GIF?

Yes. Choose GIF under Save as. Keep it short, up to 10 seconds, so it sends quickly.

Yes. A photo becomes a 3, 5 or 10 second clip with fireworks.

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

Free, with no watermark and no sign-up.

Are my photos and videos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome and Edge on computers and Android work best. Recent Safari on iPhone and Mac works too.
